1.  Bring a white elephant gift for the get exchange.
This is a fun activitiy -the gift is something from home wrapped beautifully or in a xmas bag.
RULES-must be something you already have at home that is wrapped!
  • Something you don't want is someone else's treasure.  
  • This can be a food item from your food pantry
  • Something used you don't play with anymore
  • a game no longer played or used
  • We draw numbers and who ever is #1 opens a gift. 
  • #2 person has a choice to take #1 gift or open a new gift.
  • If he chooses to take #1 gift, The #1 person must open a new gift.
  • Gifts can only be taken 2x 
  • the 3rd person who has it is the last &  get's to keep the gift.
  • Sample:GIFTS: $5 or less gift you already have at home: a large bag of chips, a liter drink, a nice pen, wrapped old ball,old nail polishes
  • The best number to get is of course the last number because you will see almost all the gifts open & get to choose from all those gifts that have not been taken 2x or open last gift is yours.
  • This activity takes about 30 minutes but it is very fun, when students wrap gag gifts in a huge box & it ends up being something small but the expectation is it was something big.

2. Students who drew a secret santa -have a gift you bought, too.  You will have 2 gifts to bring one bought, one used wrapped. 
3.  Bring food to have a potluck & share with your classmates.  
4.  I will provide pizza because 100% will bring signed field lesson form signed !!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!  The College Counseling Team informed us that 70 of our current seniors have already been admitted to a college or university this year!  That is amazing.  Look around the halls to see Senior students with “ACCEPTED” sashes and tell them congratulations on this achievement!
FRIDAY ASSEMBLY:  This Friday during Power Period time, grades 9-12 will meet in their grade teams for a team meeting.   
JUNIORS!!!! We will be having a community service event taking place on Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Weslaco. This is a great opportunity to serve the community and partake in a warming event. STUDENT COUNCIL DANCE:  This Friday, the Student Council is hosting a dance for High School students.  This will be held in the cafeteria from 6:00-10:00.  Cost will be $3 per person or $5 per couple.  Funds raised will go towards Field Lesson.
IB LEARNER PROFILE:  The next IB Learner of the Week your teachers will be choosing will be “Communicator.”  Make sure to exhibit excellent communication skills to be chosen as an IB Learner of the Week!
BASKETBALL:  This week, on Tuesday, our JV boys team has a game against IDEA Frontier at 6 p.m..  Come out and support our Titans!

FRIDAY ASSEMBLY:  This Friday, grades 9-12 will meet in the gym for a pep rally to celebrate a home basketball game.

Austin ISD visits ICP Donna!
ICP Donna was selected to be the host school for about 40 guests from Austin ISD to further our discussions of partnership with the Austin Independent school district. Stakeholders will be on campus from 12 PM-3:30 PM.  Guests will range from school leaders, board members, parents, media and community stakeholders.   This is part of our discussions with AISD to see if there is an opportunity for IDEA to take over an underperforming school, therefore expanding into Austin in a few years.  4 groups will walk in and out of classrooms so please be prepared to do what you always do--your best! We know our guests will find the visit very inspirational!  Most of our intervention classes will be visited...
PROGRESS REPORTS:  This Friday, November 11, QUARTER 2 PROGRESS REPORT 1 GRADES ARE DUE.  Make sure to get with your teachers to check your grades and see if you have to make up or re-do any work.  
NURSE’S OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED DUE TO SCREENINGS:  From now until the end of November, the Health Clinic will be closed every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning from 8-11 as the nurses will be completing vision, hearing and spinal screenings.   Only major emergencies will be seen (such as broken bones, blood loss, major head injuries) during these times.  
A/B HONOR ROLL PANCAKE BREAKFAST:  The A/B Honor Roll Pancake breakfast will be held this Tuesday, November 8 at 6:45 a.m. in the cafeteria.  Please remember to invite your parents if you were on the A/B Honor Roll List.  Congratulations on your academic achievement!!!
TITAN PASSES:  If you are on the Quarter 1 A/B Honor Roll, have 2 or fewer detentions/West Wings, and have 2 or fewer absences, then you will qualify for a Titan Pass in Quarter 2.  You will receive your Titan Pass by next Monday, November 14!  
CLOTHES & TOYS COLLECTION:  We will be collecting toys and used clothes until this Friday, November 11th. Items collected will be donated to Mujeres Unidas. If you have any used clothes (any size) or toys (new or used) that you would like to donate, please bring it ASAP. There will be three boxes around campus: in the front office, Ms. Cavazos's office, and the 11/12th grade hallway.  This is a CAS activity sponsored by seniors, as a requirement for graduation. Thanks for helping! Contact person: Ms. Montalvo/Khiabet Magallon.
CANNED FOOD DRIVE:   We will have a can drive until this Friday, November 11th with the intention of making Thanksgiving baskets to be donated to the needy in our community. SHORT WEEK:  This week, students have no school on Friday, 10/28, due to a professional development day for teachers.
RED RIBBON WEEK:  Today, Monday, October 24, there will be an assembly presentation for drug free week DURING INTERVENTION TIME.  Make sure you are using your ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES, as we have a guest speaker from ICE coming to speak with us today.
RED RIBBON WEEK:  You can earn a $25 prize towards your field lesson (one prize per grade level--seniors will get a $25 gift certificate for your college bookstore)!  We are having an drug free poster contest.  Your poster will be judged on neatness, creativity, and a strong anti-drug message.  The poster needs to be on regular sized poster board and is due Monday, October 24 to your homeroom teacher.
RED RIBBON WEEK:  Help your homeroom win a pizza party!  Plan for a door decorating contest with a strong anti-drug message.  Decorations can be put up starting TODAY, Monday, October 24 and the door needs to be complete by 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25.  There will be one prize awarded for high school and one prize awarded for middle school for the most creative door with the strongest drug free message!
SENIORS:  Your CAS journals (including at least 5 CAS activities with reflections and evidence) are due on WEDNESDAY, 10/26 to your homeroom teacher.  Ms. Montalvo will go by each homeroom in the morning to collect them.
SENIORS:  On Thursday, 10/27 all seniors will receive their IB Exams registrations. You must verify that information is correct and sign it.
*If you were cleared for CAS on 10/26, you will be registered as a DIPLOMA candidate.
*If not, you will be registered as a CERTIFICATE student and once Ms. Montalvo clears you, your registration will change to DIPLOMA. The absolute FINAL date for turning in CAS journals and to be cleared for registration as a DIPLOMA candidate will be November 2nd.

ATHLETICS:  Volleyball Junior Varsity and Varsity are the district champions!  Varsity Lady Titans were UNDEFEATED IN DISTRICT PLAY and played IDEA’s first ever REGIONAL GAME against IDEA San Juan last Wednesday.  Lady Titans are playoff bound!
AHLETICS--BASKETBALL:  Boys and girls basketball practice has officially started.  Even if you did not attend the basketball meeting, you still have a chance to make the team.  All this week will be TRYOUTS.  For more information, contact Coach Lisa.

TUESDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS!


HINOJOSA'S HR ANNOUNCEMENTS:  
  1. CAROLINA P- You will be going to Mrs. Franklin's for Intervention until you are passing her class.  
  2. INTERVENTION IN HOMEROOM TODAY for Socrates Seminar Lesson AND THURSDAY-Field Lesson Assembly.
  3. Be sure your parents attend the Field Lesson Fundraiser Meeting 10/13 @5:30.



BASKETBALL:  Anyone interested in trying out for JV/Varsity Boys/Girls basketball?  There will be a team meeting from 4:00-4:30pm on Tuesday, October 11. Boys will meet in the GYM weightroom and girls will meet in the GYM locker room. Please make arrangements to be picked up by 4:30 pm.  Only 30 spots to be filled on Boys/Girls teams, so don’t miss out.
FIELD LESSON FUNDRAISING/PAYMENT:  Field Lessons will be from May 21-25.  There will be a meeting on Thursday, October 13, during Assembly time to discuss one of our first fundraisers for field lesson.  There will also be a High School Field Lesson parent meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13 in the cafeteria to discuss our strategy and payment options for Field Lessons.  The first payment is due Friday, December 2.  ($75 dollars for in state trip; $200 dollars for out of state trip.) 
HIGH SCHOOLERS SHOULD WALK VIA TITAN BOULEVARD:  Many high school students have been walking through the middle school building on their way to and from their boardwalk classes.  All high school students should walk on Titan Boulevard as they travel from class to class.  High school students have NO CLASSES in the middle school building, and should therefore go around the building to avoid disrupting middle school classes. 
GANAS STORE:  The Ganas Store is open!!!  Make sure to get permission & a pass from your teacher to go with your Ganas to Mrs. Cavazos-Escamilla’s office to purchase school supplies and small items. 
PEP RALLY:  On October 14 during assembly time, students and staff will get to enjoy a Pep Rally!  Since the talent show went amazingly well lately, we want to reward you with a talent show! 
TITAN CHESS TEAM:  New members are welcome!  Students must register for USCF membership.  See Mrs. Olmos for details.  Chess practices are held every Monday in room 12 on the boardwalk from 3:50-5:00 PM.  The next tournament is at BL Gray Middle School, Sharyland, Texas on October 15.  The IDEA Titan Chess Team is proudly representing our community!
ATHLETICS:  Volleyball Junior Varsity and Varsity have an Away Game on Friday vs. IDEA Mission.  Our Lady Titans are STILL undefeated in charter league play!  Come out and support the Lady Titans in their quest to make the playoffs!!!
ATHLETICS:  Varsity Flag Football Players will play against IDEA San Benito on Saturday, 10/15/2011 at 8:00 a.m.  Games are played at McAllen West Side Park (Softball Complex & Soccer Fields), 1000 S. Ware Road, McAllen.  Come out and support the Donna Titans Flag Football Team in their quest to make the playoffs!!!

Our Spanish classes will put together a Hispanic Festival.  We will have booths, karaoke, folkloric dances, flamingo, mariachi, a parade, moon jumps, food, and much more to honor many of the Hispanic countries around the international world! Below is the schedule to buy bracelets for the “all you can ride” moon jumps:
